SUN-KISSED WITH THE RIGHT GLOW
Do you know that cosmetics dates back to 7,000 years ago? One would actually be curious on where it was originated from or how it was produced? I have your answers, let us relate with the history books.
Egypt, as we’ve heard is where civilization started. They perceived “beauty” as a sign of holiness. Both men and women wore makeup such as eye paint and Kohl (kajal) what we know as eyeliner. The eye paint varied in colors. The black eye paint was known as Mesdemetand was made from galena (lead) and crushed charcoal was sometimes used.
These were used for lining the eyes and they believed to bring health benefits by protecting the eyes from diseases and sun-rays. Red ochre clay was also grounded and mixed with water to paint the cheeks and lips, what we know now as blush and lipstick.
π―MAKEUP IS ARTππ¨
The varieties of cosmetics has created a diverse modification on skin tones, creating colors that compliment the eye, hair and different skin shades. The human face is made up of symmetrical lines, this creates both dark and light facial tones.
Just as a painter mixes colors to get a better transition, a makeup artist does same by understanding the undertone of the skin and the right shades of makeup products to use. This gives the face an even tone and a beautiful attraction. This further concludes that makeup is an art.
Each product has a method of application and the one that best catches the glimpse is the Bronzer. The bronzer is a glimmer shine that gives the face a beautiful glow, with a defined sun-kissed shine.
Makeup is said to enhance beauty, this is only possible when makeup is applied rightly. The foundation and the concealer is used as a base on the face. The concealer highlights the high points of the face including the cheekbones. The right concealer to use should be 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone. The face contour helps to add dimension and shadow and it is always a darker shade of your skin tone. The bronzer is applied afterwards.
π―How do I choose the right bronzer for my skin type?
You don’t need to worry. Cosmetics have been produced in a way that it’s safe for application on various skin types.
For normal, oily or combination skin | the powdered bronzer gives you a matte-finished look and keeps your skin free from oiliness. |
For oily to sensitive skin | The cream-based or liquid bronzer perfectly blends in with your skin type and leaves your skin hydrated. |
For very oily to sensitive skin | Use powder or gel-based bronzers. Avoid using metallic or liquid bronzers. |
To stay on a safe side, get products that are considered perfect and dermatologically tested for all skin types.
π―How do I choose the right bronzer for my skin tone?
Meanwhile, the amazing makeup tool, the Bronzer gives a warm shimmering under tone, this means your bronzer shade should be 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone. You need to ensure your bronzer rhymes with your natural tone.
People who have a cool undertone should use a warm shade.
People who have warm undertones should use warm golden-brown shade.
People who have neutral undertone should use a nude or natural brown shade.
π―Where should I apply my Bronzer?
The bronzer is applied where the sun naturally hits your face. The angled brush is used to apply bronzer on the cheeks bones and the bridge of the nose or the nose point, your neck towards the collar bone and the top of the forehead.
Hopefully, this guide has improved your knowledge on cosmetics; including on its application and how to rightly choose the products based on your skin type and tone.
